What is AI Comment Merge?
AI Comment Merge is a feature in Hive, the AI home inspection software, that combines several related defect comments in a report into a single comment. You select up to three comments, and Hive writes one new comment with a new title and a combined description, carrying over the photos and location tags from each of them. The report ends up shorter and less alarming to read, without dropping any of the information you recorded.

How AI Comment Merge works
The whole thing runs from the defect summary, on web and on mobile.
Open the defect summary
On the web, use the three dot menu to open the defect summary, the view that lists every defect on the report together. On mobile, open the inspection, tap Report Editor and pick the report to reach the same view.
Select the comments and merge
Hit merge comments, pick the ones that belong together, up to three, and confirm. Reviewing them side by side in the summary is where the repetition is easiest to spot.
Read what came back
Hive gathers the photos, the location tags and the descriptions into one comment and writes a new title for it. A prompt names which comments went in and which one they came out as. On mobile the new comment is expanded for you.
Uncheck the originals yourself
The comments you merged stay checked, on purpose. Because this is AI, nothing is unchecked for you, so you read the new comment first and then clear the originals.
Save
Save, refresh, and the merged comment is there in place of the ones you combined.
Where you can use it
The defect summary
Merging happens in the defect summary, the view that puts every defect on the report in one list. It is the same view and the same merge button on web and on mobile.
On the web
Open the report, use the three dot menu to reach the defect summary, and merge while you review before the report goes out.
On your phone
Open the inspection, tap Report Editor and pick the report. The defect summary is there too, with the same merge button.

Three is the limit for a single merge.
Nothing is deleted for you
Because this is AI, Hive does not uncheck anything by default. The comments you merged stay checked until you uncheck them yourself.
The photos come with it
Photos, location tags and descriptions from every merged comment are gathered into the new one, and Hive writes the new title.
