Ridge vent
A continuous vent along the roof ridge that exhausts attic air, working with soffit vents to ventilate the attic.

What is Ridge vent?
Attic ventilation works as a system: intake low at the soffits, exhaust high at the ridge. A ridge vent without adequate soffit intake pulls its make-up air from the house instead, drawing conditioned, humid air into the attic and making moisture problems worse. Common findings are soffit vents blocked by insulation where no baffles were installed, ridge vent combined with powered fans or gable vents that short-circuit the intended airflow, and ridge vent cut into the deck without the slot actually being opened. Reporting the system rather than the component is what makes the finding useful.
